Pentagon Bracing For Public Dissent Over Climate And Energy Shocks

So we get told the science isn't settled, that it's not worth taking any steps to try and mitigate potential future outcomes. But the military knows that's bullshit, and the superstructure in general, is already taking the safeguards to save itself. While at the same time making inevitable that it will need to employ those methods because it has done nothing to address the actual problem.

That's it exactly. They can use crises to their advantage, consolidate power and force their agenda on the populace. Its the epitome of the shock doctrine. Corporations and The State are the only parties that stand to actually benefit from planetary disaster. For both corporations and the state, its the bottom line; achieving total control.
On a hopeful note; the military has been driving innovation in alternative fuel and off-the-grid technologies. Re-purposing those achievements for use in peace-time would mean the dawning of a new era.
