I love that its a Herzog documentary! The cult of Obama. It still persists to this day, despite his gross betrayal of those who elected and re-elected him. it seems that facing the truth, that the candidates paraded out in front of us, swearing to solve all of our problems and satisfy our very real desire to escape from the structural violence of the state and its corporate owners, are all the same, and there will be no adjustment in the agenda after this election or any other. I wish I was wise enough to see that at the time but I was dancing in front of the television like everyone else. Obama is a trojan horse. He conned the left into betraying their principles, trapping them forever in hypocritical denial, and thereby incapacitating any large scale resistance to the policies of the global elite. Huey was right, saying his election was the end of America. Under Obama, we have witnessed an incomprehensible escalation in the subversion of our constitutional rights as well as in the power of the military-industrial-financial-prison complex, as begun in earnest under Bush. The level of corruption is such that there is no longer any viable recourse within the existing system, it cannot be reformed, and I fear we have passed the point of no return, as even open revolt seems beyond our grasp now. "Hows that hopey changey thing workin out for ya?" (hysterical laughter)
