Viacom and other media conglomerates heavily invested in private prison industry:

MTV and BET, amongst other companies, are revealed to have large financial holdings in private prison companies. This leads to speculation about the glorification of crime and a degenerate lifestyle that is commonplace on these channels being a giant advertising campaign for criminality, and the prison industrial complex.

Good find. I remember that anonymous letter from last year, not a great piece of evidence on which to build a massive conspiracy theory. This article is a bit better. I am less than skeptical that there is collusion between these entities to increase profits, but, in my opinion, the racial implications point to a much larger conspiracy. However, Blackrock, the largest holder of Viacom and GEO stock is a massive hedge fund that owns the bulk of almost any significant large corporation. Vanguard is no different. Does this mean that there is no conspiracy to use the media to condition black youth into chasing a glorified illusion of the criminal lifestyle and then profit from their subsequent incarceration? No. Either way, I own some Blackrock mutual funds, I gotta call my broker, I don't want to hold stock in Viacom or GEO, yuck.
